Hi,
my friend has XP pro and runs Office 2003, all up to date etc. After
booting he clicks on any word, excel etc document and as expected they open
up the app concerned. Then he uses IE8 for a while but when he opens a
folder and clicks on any document nothing happens. After a few minutes the
window header says xxxx not responding. No error apperas in the event
viewer and I cannot see what is wrong. Did a repair installation of office,
ran CCCleaner etc. Stumped - any ideas please?

Do a search for normal.dot When found rename it to normal.old The try and open your
document and see what happens. Let us know.

I have not seen this error unless there is a problem with the fil
itself. I typically use excel more than any other program. Have yo
thought about trying to use the 'excel help

function. It might be able to tell you how to correct the file name o
destination in order for you to open them on this operating system
