Discussion:
How do I change the language interface(?) of MS Office 2007?
(too old to reply)

I bought a Dell notebook (XPS M1210) here in Japan with pre-installed Vista
Ultimate, which also included a packaged MS Office Personal 2007 + Powerpoint
2007. The MUI has allowed change from its original japanese texts to english
by setting the language in the regional setting. However, the Office toolbars
remain in the Japanese language.

As I understand the language display in MS Office 2007 can also be changed.
Please anyone give some advice on how to set the language to english.

You would have needed to add the English language packs to it. The only problem being is that there is no English language pack that could be added to another language version of Office 2007

Is this true for the retail versions of Office only? Because there is an
English SLP for Office 2007 available through the volume licensing site.

Thank you very much for your reply, although it is bad news for me.

I hope Microsoft would one day publish a English SLP, sooner than later.

Ok, here is one successful work-around:

- you've got an Office 2007 version that is in the wrong language. Yo
want all the menus to go to English (or something else), right? It'
possible!
- uninstall your current version. It's useless.
- Download a TRIAL VERSION in the correct language. The English tria
version is easy to find online, just google "Try Microsoft Office 2007"
Hopefully you can find the language of your choice.
- Use the product key from your original purchased copy to unlock thi
trial version. I tried my Finnish product key with a US trial version..
and it worked perfectly.
- you will get a working English version, and you didn't need to bu
any new products :)

As I said, it worked for my Finnish product key. I hated those Finnis
menus! I can only hope that this trick works for all languag
conversions, so good luck trying.

Best regards,
Laur

Actually it's even easier than that.
You don't have to uninstall your previous Office.
Just download and run an English version of Office07 trial. Ther
select Add or Remove Features and there you will see that in the firs
tab you will have an option to add English language

Thanks gripes, I hope a lot of people discover this thread and you
solution. That's definitely the fastest way to go.

So in the end it's actually really easy to change the language fo
Office 2007, you just need to know that small "download the tria
version" trick.

Extra emphasis: this should work for ALL language conversions

If someone has spare time, please try to get feedback to Microsof
about this

Same situation as Raba except I have not installed my French Version yet. Are
you suggesting to download the trial version, then add the code from the
French Version to change it to English. If that is not right, what do you
suggest?

You are not able to change the language. Period. You need to purchase an English
language one. There is also No Ultimate version of Office.
Again. You are NOT able to change the language aside from purchasing one
