I'm trying to save my document in Word 2007.
Every time I try to save the document, the application crashes and
tries to recover. Yet, when I try to save it again, it still crashes.

How can I save my document properly? Converting to a 97-2003
compatible document works, but it removes all the markup specific to
2007.

The Exception messages is as follows:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: WINWORD.EXE
Application Version: 12.0.4518.1014
Application Timestamp: 45428028
Fault Module Name: wwlib.dll

Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00070926
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.6
Locale ID: 2067

Hi Tim, I'm sorry to hear you're having problems.

Does the problem only happen with that one document, or with an
document you open or create in Word 2007? Does the problem persist whe
you log in as another user?

Have you tried repairing Office yet? You can do so by going into Star
| Control Panel | Programs and Features | Microsoft Office 2007
Change | Repair | Continue.

Also, you can try disabling any third party add-ins you have installed

To do so open Word 2007, then go into the Office button | Word Option
| Add-Ins.

From here you can disable any third party add-ins that are installed
To the right of each add-in you should see a type (COM Add-in, fo
example). Down at the bottom of the window where it says Manage, chang
the item in the drop down menu to the type of item you want to manag
and click GO.

In the window that appears, uncheck whatever add-ins you wish t
disable, click OK and restart Word to see if the issue is resolved.

Sam, Thank you for your reply.

The problem occurs when I try to save the document as a "Word
document", which is the Word 2007-format. When I save in comptability
mode, the crash doesn't occur.

There aren't any add-ins installed to my knowledge; this is a fairly
fresh, default install. (Vista Business and Office 2007)
In the "COM Add-ins"-dialogue are no add-ins defined.
After a repair, the problem persisted.

I find it quite odd, that a fresh install of office is crashing to
horribly and consistently. The particular DLL would've been patched
recently as some googling taught me because of a buffer-overflow
exploit. If that's the case, windowsupdate might've corrupted the DLL.

Have you tried the suggestions Sam gave the other poster? Running
Diagnostics ("repairing Office") is a good start, and disabling add-ins is
also a good troubleshooting step.

Hell Echo

I run the diagnostic from control panel, but it did not fix the problem. I
noticed that I click on the Icon to open directly a specific document, it's
opened but it does not show anything, it is like it were disable, and when i
close it, it crashed. The other thing is when I first open Word then open the
document, I can see the document but it does not allow me to make any click
on it, it's like the mouse were not working, any modification hass to be done
with the keyboard, you can save it but when you close word, it crashed. If
you did not save before it does not allow you due to the crashed.

Any Idea, I did not reinstall office but I'll do it soon,

Okay, thanks for the additional information. Reinstallling Office probably
won't help. As mentioned a number of times, you need to disable add-ins. You
can start Word with no add-ins by going to Start | Run and typing
winword.exe /a If Word works then, then an add-in is the problem.

Also, try a couple of things that help us with these odd issues in
PowerPoint. They may help with Word, too.

* Install a local Windows-certified printer driver and set it as the default
printer. Here's how: http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00605.htm

* Move hardware acceleration back. Here's how:
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00129.htm

So, to recap, this is your list of things to try:
1. disable add-ins
2. install a printer driver
3. change hardware acceleration

I have Repaird Office - no difference.
BUT, I cannot seem to get to remove the Addins as suggested.
The Dialog box has greyed out the Addins menu item - even if run Wor
as Administrator!.

Once when I ran winword.exe -a I did get the option to remove Addins,
ut then it said that I need Admin rights...!

Tell me, I sign in under my User name which has Admin rights. So wh
can't I remove the Addins? Why is it greyed out?
Do I have to re-create a User call Administrator to overcome this?

Hi,

I was having the same issue - everyone tells you repair, uninstall sp
Office 2007 not compatible with Visual Studio 2008 etc.

What worked:
Run ProcMon only include word or excel and see what is queried. For m
it was a shell extender from Mediafour Macdrive 5 I've had evaluate
about 100 years ago which was not clean uninstalled. --> Reinstalled an
Uninstalled again and the problem was gone.

You can temporary disable such extension with technet's autoruns.

BTW: what was also solved: Save Dialog in Firefox. :-)

Sounds like this might apply...

Word 2007 may stop responding when you try to use the Define New Multilevel
List feature
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926955

If that doesn't apply you may want to update office. There are Word updates
available that update the file Wwlib.dll
