Hi,

I associated a Log file with Word.

I would now like to unassociate this file. That is, I do not need the
Log file to be associated with any programme.

Can anyone tell me how to unassociate this file?

Thanks

Thanks for responding.

I don't want to change the association.

I want to remove the association with Word, hence leaving the file
unassociated.

Here are a couple of things to try:

Open Control Panel, Folder Options, File Type tab, select the .LOG
extension, and click the Restore button, if it exists. Or, click the
Advanced button, select the Open action, click the Remove button.

A System Restore to a date before the change was made MIGHT remove that
association. Of course, that might not be a viable option if it's been
weeks or months since the change was made.

Here are my Registry entries for the .LOG extension. You can compare to
yours, and change accordingly, or copy/paste each of these into Wordpad
saving as .reg files. Copy the text between the lines below. Then
merge each of the four files into the registry. If you do that, made a
restore point first.

LOG1.REG

"b"="WORDPAD.EXE"

LOG4.REG

The four files above were exported from my registry.. I believe you can
combine them as below, name whatever you prefer with a .reg extension,
and just merge the one file:

"b"="WORDPAD.EXE"
