Hi, I've Installed customized and office templates in a Shared Folder over
the network, in order to standarize 'em thru the company, but since the
NormalEMail.dotm template is also installed on this shared folder and used by
word as an Email template, everytime a user closes Outlook gets an error
because another users are usign this very same template.

Is there a way to aviod this problem ? or the only solution is to install
all the templates locally in everyone of the users machine, which by the way
seems the worst scenario?

Hi J.,

The Word Normal.dotm and Outlook editor NormalEmail.dotm are not designed to be shared templates. Neither ships with the product,
they are generated by the programs on first use/save and the normals are ordinarily in the user profile template folder, either
local or roaming.

Shared/workgroup templates for your standardizations are fine but the 'normals' are intended to be per user. In their case the term
'global' refers more to their behavior of being 'overriding' on new documents.

It is possible to 'lock' the normals, but it sort of defeats some of their functionallity
