I got a dodgy Office 2003 CD: self terminating?
(too old to reply)

I purchased an Office 2003 Professional CD from an online auction
website. I noticed that the CD and the sleeve both have on them

UNLICENSED SOFTWARE
Illegal without separate licence from Microsoft

The part number on the sleeve seems to be an academic select license,
whereas the part number on the inner ring of the CD indicates that
it is a 30-day trial version of Office. So I asked awkward queries of
the seller, but get no reply: so negative feedback shall be likely.

It did install with the product key, and asks for activation, but I
did not activate it, as I was hoping to return it to the spiv.
I recall installing a select license Office2003 once before that
was given to me by mistake (by the IT dude in the megacorporation
I worked for then), and it did not demand activation.
So will my installation shit itself after 30 days, even if I
do not run it 49 more times (the unactivated limit)?

Yes it will
I advanced the date 31 days in BIOS and restarted.
This Office 2003 would run as before (with the activation reminder). So does
the 30-day limit start after activation?

If this was bought through ebay / paypal then you would have to take
it up with them. If it was bought using paypal the get a complaint
loged in as soon as possible. You can get your money back and the
seller can be marked as a bad seller. Always check out on line sellers
credability first.
