Using MS Word 2000, how can I make a plain vanilla business card? I want
different font sizes and centering. Will be using Avery labels.

Bob Finer,
If you have Publisher on your system it supports Avery products as built in
templates. You can alter to your specifications.

Thanks for the reply, but i don't have Publisher, would like to use
MS Word
and I'm pretty much a newbie. MS Word has the ability to make
business cards
under the Tools/Labels route but it has no flexibility. I've tried
to make a
regular document do but it is very difficult to hit the right area
on the
card/label.
Thanks Again

There are usually formatting instructions for blank business cards in
Avery boxes of card stock. Avery has a large number of free
downloadable templates if you like that sort of thing:

http://www.avery.com/us/Main?action=software.PreDesignHierarchy&catalogcode=WEB01&node=0

That is supposed to be on one line and there is no gap between Main?
and action.

You can always start at avery.com and work your way to the software.

From an old file of mine, Avery's set up for Word follows and you can
always save something you like as your own template.

1. Create a new document using the New command on the File
menu.

Base the document on the NORMAL template.

2. Use the Page Setup command on the File menu to set the

Margins as follows:

Top: .5

Bottom: .25

Left: .75

Right: .75

3. Choose the Insert Table command on the Table menu, and make
the

following settings:

Columns: 2

Rows: 5

Column Width: 3.5

4. Use the Select Table command on the Table menu to highlight the
entire table. Then choose the Row Height command on the Table Menu and
make the following entries:

Indent from Left: 0

Height of Rows 1-5: Exactly

At: 2in

Alignment: Left

5. While the table is still highlighted, select the Column Width
command from the Table Menu and make these settings:

Width of Columns 1-2: 3.5

Space between Cols.: 0

Note: If you can’t see the cells in the table you have just created,
select

Options from the Tools menu, and in the View category, check the Table

Grid Lines option. The grid lines will show on your screen, but will
not

print.

6. You have completed setting up the page layout for your business
cards. Design your business card in the upper-left cell of the table.
When you are satisfied with your design, copy that cell and paste it
into the other nine cells.

7. Once you have formatted the cards correctly, use Print on the File
menu to print your business cards.

Note: We suggest you print on plain paper first to check the
formatting. Hold the page up in front of a sheet of Avery Laser
Business Cards to make sure the positioning is correct.

I had to buy some more Avery blank stock for my laser printer today
and I find that they indicate that
Tools...Envelopes and Labels...Label...Options

allows you to choose Label Products...Avery Standard.

Highlight the Avery Product....OK
New Document

This works for Office XP and allowed me to set up my design easily.
The result can be saved as a template if you wish.

There is only one thing missing in that you need to copy the first
cell to each of the rest. That's tedious and I recorded a macro for it
some time ago.

I use CardFila.com to collect all business cards on iPhone because it is so easy to collect, find and use any contact at any time.
You can access the contacts everywhere without Internet connection by using CardFila for Mobile (iPhone or Android phones). I also can do this on Android, computer, laptop. As i know, they will award 100 free coins for accounts registered within Nov 2012! If you like, you can try it on http://cardfila.com/
