Office 2010.
Almost all the time when I choose File/Open from Word or Excel and highlight the file to open I get the following error message in the preview box: "This file can't be previewed because of an error in the Microsoft Excel (or Word) previewer.". How can I fix this problem?

Thanks... Bob

"let us know if it solved the problem:"
I can't get back to you about the solution as it is the most ridiculous solution I've ever heard of and I'm not even going to try it. Unless I'm missing something big time it basically say that it is a known problem but there is no cure, if you want to preview something in one program I have to stop and run a second program and try to view it there.

Do you know if an Office reinstall might help?

Thanks... Bob

Not sure about re-installing but assuming you have updated your Office
with all the updates and the problem is still there then try this:

Word Options -> Resources, and click on "Run Microsoft Office
Diagnostics."

It might take a a while but it will tell you what is the problem and
also fix it.

You then need to close Word before restarting it to see if the problem
is fixed.

You could also try this in both Excel and Word one by one:

1. Open Excel/Word, click on the File tab, choose Info
2. In the right hand pane click on Properties drop-down arrow
3. click on Advanced Properties and choose Summary Tab
4. Place a check mark in the "Save Thumbnails for All Excel/word Documents"

Hope this helps otherwise there may not be a solution!!!. Have you
tried posting to Microsoft's Official Forums (see link below)?
